Hi all, we are now approaching the last 2 months of the year where the weather changes to winter climes. We now switch to a 2 week cycle program with every 2nd week being a paced run or ParkRun. The structure will be Tuesday as the main quality session and Thursday still being a group training session. There has been a request to go to indoor training earlier this year and I shall leave this for Piia, TommyK and TommiP to arrange/discuss with the group. It will be on a Tuesday to accommodate those who can't make Thursdays. The framework shall be updated shortly.
This weekend Saturday has a ParkRun planned and therefore the weekend after will have the long run.
If there are individual requests of someone who wants to do an event in the next 2 months, please let me know and something will be prescribed accordingly. The NICE guys have 2 weeks to their event.
Piia will be switching to race the indoor track season for the first time.
During the winter months we can have fun and try new things while focusing on getting in the longer aerobic run. A treadmill will be needed for most aerobic runs when the weather becomes too slippery outside, so do start making those plans and chat to Piia about such matters.
All in all, it has been quite a year so far and we have much to look forward to going forward.
So here we are .. we go indoors from the 26/11 .. the aim is to establish a 2000m time-trial time which will be used to establish your 3000m aim at a later stage. Due to us being indoors for a longer period the aim is to move the 3000m time to achieve your future 5000m aim/goal. This will be achieved through 2k . 1k . 800m . 600m . 400m and 300m sessions, all conducted in a fun environment. The intention is also to develop the athlete to get to 20km as their longest run during the winter phase with our focus on further aerobic development. All of this is hopefully done while still having fun and enjoyment. If we able to, Thursday will be an outdoor run however with the weather pattern changing we will need to 'play this by ear' (see what happens). I have asked this before and do so again, let me know if you have long-term goals of your own, it is great to know this well in advance so we can plan accordingly. Many thanks, onwards and forwards
